As this application’s name points out, it is meant to be used on multi-monitor setups. What it does is it helps you see what’s displayed on your secondary monitor. The contents of monitor 2 will be displayed in a window, on monitor 1. From monitor 1, you can see what’s displayed on monitor 2.

When will this sort of functionality come in handy? If both monitors are facing towards you, then Multi-Monitor Viewer isn’t helpful at all. But if you repositioned your secondary monitor so that it faces away from you, then Multi-Monitor Viewer is quite helpful. Instead of getting up and going over to see what’s on monitor 2, you can use Multi-Monitor Viewer to see the contents of monitor 2.

Getting Multi-Monitor Viewer up and running on a Windows PC is an effortless task (the Quick Look video that accompanies this article shows just how easy it is to install Multi-Monitor Viewer). Alex Doumanoglou, this application’s developer, tested Multi-Monitor Viewer on Windows 7. According to him, Multi-Monitor Viewer should work just fine with any Windows edition from Windows XP onward. I had no problems running Multi-Monitor Viewer on a PC powered by Windows 8.1.

While Multi-Monitor Viewer is running, you will see its icon on the system tray. Double click it to bring up your secondary monitor. Right click it to bring up a context menu that lists your monitors, lets you open the About menu, and lets you quit the application.

Multi-Monitor Viewer is free and open source software. This means you won’t have to part with your hard earned money to enjoy the functionality this application has to offer.

You’re giving a presentation and monitor 2 is facing towards the audience. What do you do when you want to see what the audience is seeing? You use Multi-Monitor Viewer to bring up the contents of monitor 2, inside a window on monitor 1.

Pros

Installing Multi-Monitor Viewer is a very straightforward matter (see the Quick Look video). Multi-Monitor Viewer sits in the system tray; double click it to bring up your secondary monitor, right click it to bring up a context menu. Multi-Monitor Viewer is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
